Curriculum DT

In design and technology at Wood End Park Academy, we encourage children to use creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. Pupils learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and skilful.

Children in key stage one are encouraged to design purposeful, functional, appealing products for themselves and other users based on design criteria. Whilst children in key stage two must use research and develop design criteria to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that are fit for purpose, aimed at particular individuals or groups.

Pupils in the academy have made some absolutely fantastic designs and models and are encouraged always to take pride in their individual abilities. The school holds a Design technology and art exhibition where the children are able to showcase their hard work to the parents of the school. The children are able to physically show the step by step methods to making their products and explain each process. This event is loved by both adults and children alike and gives the children a chance to show off their real hard earned work.
