Safety Team
Safety Team at WEPA
‘We are all safe at WEPA’
At Wood End Park Academy, we believe that the safety and well being of children is a top priority. We have a dedicated team who support pupils to feel safe inside and outside school. Safety is not just being safe in school but ensuring that pupils are safe outside of the school grounds.
The role of the Safety Team member
The role of the Safety Team was decided by the team and is listed below:
1) To ensure that the school is safe all the time. For example, pupils are aware that visitors that enter the school have a badge and are DBS checked, that the doors have security locks and that gates are always locked.
2) To ensure pupils know how to keep themselves safe from bullying and harassment.
3) To raise awareness of safety outside of school. For example, how to keep themselves safe online, how to cross roads safely and what to do if a stranger approaches them.
4) To ensure the school grounds are safe for pupils to play in. For example, ensure that there are no hazards on the playground that could cause harm to the pupils.
The Safety Team meets each week to discuss any concerns that have been received or seen. We discuss how these can be managed and resolved. We also have a set agenda of upcoming events and focuses for each week. For example, road safety week, anti-bullying week.
